Huddersfield and Holmfirth House Prices Rise

At Belong, By James White we hope to keep you informed of the performance of Huddersfield House Prices, and Holmfirth House Prices, using data from the UK Land Registry.

Figures from the Official Land Registry data set show a steady increase in house prices across Kirklees in the last year or so.  In March 2016 the average house price (sold) stood at £135,292; rising to £141, 368 for the latest figures posted at the end of December.

It will be interesting to see how the first quarter of 2017 has faired, as the volume of house sales transactions declined over 2016.  Peaking in March 2016 at 700 monthly transactions, this number fell to 439 towards the end of the year.  The government's policy of raising taxes from the private rented sector being blamed by many for the significant fall in appetite for property purchase from landlords.

However, as sales volumes fell, so did the number of houses coming to the market, creating upward pressure on asking prices.  The latest figures from Rightmove (the country's leading property portal) state that the average asking price across the UK has risen to £310, 108, somewhat higher than the local selling price in Kirklees......for an up to date figure on the value of your own home, please contact Belong on 01484 444567
