Is Christmas and New Year a bad time to sell?

Not really! Is the answer.  Buyers will buy if the right house comes to the market.

It is invariably that sellers don’t want to put their house on sale at a time of Tinsel, Baubles and Christmas Trees.

The thought of having to have people around to view over Christmas can be off-putting too.  It is a time to relax, not engage with buyers and those nasty estate agents.

Having said that, it is a time of increased buyer activity with Rightmove in particular, reporting that Boxing Day is the busiest day of the year for browsing property online.

There are many theories as to why this may be.  Lazy Day Boxing Day browsing, pent up buyer demand or genuine interest from people who have been putting off viewing.  Whichever one it is, it is certainly an important day.

Online viewers can now be satisfied with many more visuals than ever before.

At Belong, we try to include as many images as possible.  Buyers don’t read agents’ waffle any more.  They want instant visual gratification.

We find that our 3D tours are an excellent way to show people around houses from the comfort of their armchairs.  We use our Youtube channel to reach buyers via social media sites. Again, video is better than words when it comes to browsing on phones etc.

Using Facebook & Instagram we can reach around 10,000 local people for as little as a £20 investment; creating individual social media campaigns for each house we market.

So, in a nutshell, houses can attract interest at this time of year, mainly because buyers don’t have to venture outside to visit the inside of house for sale or to let.
